It used to be that you couldn't mess with technology you didn't understand because it would likely kill you.
It used to be that circuits ran in Volts over 4 gauge wire and required air gaps to keep them open.
Now the largest, and most unpredictable, beasts are software.
Often it is said that software is entirely predictable.
But I have never met an engineer who hasn't, at some point, said "it shouldn't happen that way".
Either way, here we are - the land of software "bugs", misconfigurations, third-party drivers and disrupted preferences, and quick fixes.
